Construction Site Hoardings uses Green Living Walls

Posted by: Mobilane UK Ltd

An innovative living wall has been installed on hoardings surrounding building work on the new £193 million Library of Birmingham. While the construction work continues over the next three years, users of Centenary Square will be treated to a living wall which will serve to conceal the site and make it more attractive, while adding environmental sustainability to the construction process.

The 5m high hoardings around the construction site feature a mixture of Green Screens and LivePanel living wall which were supplied by Mobilane and installed by Hedera Screens.

The lower 2.8m of the hoardings are covered by Mobilane Green Screens, which are particularly robust and will stop vandals and fly posters from abusing and damaging the hoardings.

Mobilane’s LivePanel living wall system covers the top 2.2m of the hoardings and feature a variety of plants. LivePanel is a new, innovative system designed specifically to deal with the problems associated with vertical living walls. LivePanel is a modular construction and the panels are easily adjusted to fit any requirement. LivePanel modules have a specially developed substrate, designed to enable the plants to establish and thrive. The panels are stacked onto the face of the building or wall and secured by an aluminium frame.

This is the first public installation of LivePanel, however, Mobilane Green Screens are well established in the UK and are appearing at a wide variety of sites, both public sector and private, and for a great number of reasons.

The whole installation took just two days from start to finish and the effect is stunning.
