Client: Southend Borough Council Location: East Beach, Shoeburyness Product: GrassProtecta® (Heavy) Application: Grassed overflow car park Size: 2400m²
The Problem: The East Beach car park offers year-round parking for all visitors to East Beach itself and the associated amenities in Shoeburyness, Essex. The grassed overflow car park historically suffered with the problem of vehicles wearing away the grass and creating ruts, with the area becoming uneven, unsightly and generally muddy and unpleasant in both wet and dry conditions. The Council required remedial action that would eliminate the existing problems, maintain a natural grassed finish and would be deemed as sympathetic to the natural coastal surroundings, visitors and local residence. The Solution: GrassProtecta® (Heavy) was specified, as it met all the remedial requirements. Ruts were levelled with soil and then seeded, with the GrassProtecta® then being pinned to the surface with the supplied fixings. Additional gentrification work was also carried out on the site, creating a new and pleasant parking facility for the public to use.
