Posted by: The Steel Construction Institute SCI

SCI has awarded IPCP Ltd. the SCI/NHBC Stage 1 System Certification for its IPCP Light Gauge Steel House system. The Ghana based company, which already uses the system in its prestigious Trasacco Valley residential development, in Ghana’s capital, Accra, hopes the independent verification will support them when entering the UK market.

The certificate verifies that The Steel Construction Institute has assessed the structural aspects of system for Stage 1 –and confirms that it is suitable for use in the construction of dwellings in accordance with NHBC Standards for residential buildings up to three storeys high. As its basic components the system uses cold rolled galvanised C-sections for wall studs and to fabricate lattice floor joists.

Paul Shorrock; GM Sales Marketing, IPCP Ltd. comments; This assessment offers buyers added independent assurance that IPCP constructs to a very high standard that reflects its commitment to premium residential construction. Not every company has this verification and that gives us extra differentiation when entering the UK residential industry and construction market.’

Andrew Way, Manager of Light Gauge Construction, SCI, comments: “SCI’s NHBC Certification is a time conscious and highly cost-effective assessment scheme open to companies operating in the residential construction sector. It helps in achieving increasingly stringent building and environmental regulations and verifies that a building system is designed to meet its purpose.”

Steel framing has a high strength to weight ratio which makes it ideal for multi-use constructions built over several floors; additionally it scores high on sustainability and versatility
